A History of Quality, Service & Integrity

Though our company might have just popped up on your list, the Mennel name has been synonymous with quality, service and integrity for more than a century.

The Mennel Milling Company – our parent company – was founded in 1886 by the Harter and Brown families who had backgrounds in banking and flour milling. The company, which was originally called Harter Milling, set down roots in Fostoria, Ohio, to take advantage of five major freight railroads and an abundance of natural gas. Alphonse Mennel was hired as general superintendent and later named president. By 1917, Alphonse and sons purchased the company and renamed it The Mennel Milling Company.

Over time, the company has expanded to include six flour mills, 13 country grain elevators, three trucking divisions, two bakery mix facilities, and a state-of-the-art popcorn plant. This growth has been guided by the vision and leadership of the Mennel family, now in its fifth generation, as well as the hearts and hands of our 600 dedicated employees. We are proud to provide snack food industry around the globe with the popcorn products their customers crave and service they can count on.
